Five Luxury Utility Room Ideas

Utility rooms are known for their practicality and function.  Yet while these are crucial elements to consider, these spaces can be luxurious, too. Whatever you want your utility room to deliver in terms of function, there are plenty of finishing touches such as striking brassware that can be added to enhance a luxe look.

Perrin & Rowe has a stunning selection of taps to suit a variety of sinks, worksurfaces and cabinetry styles, colours and finishes.  Take your pick from three collections – Traditional, Country and Contemporary – along with filtration taps to help reduce single plastic use (no more buying bottled water) and instant hot taps, which leave surfaces clutter-free.  With a choice of finishes such as nickel, pewter, chrome, English bronze and gold as well as our ‘living’ finishes of polished brass, satin brass and aged brass, which only get better looking with time.  All of our taps are designed, engineered and hand crafted here in Great Britain using traditional skills and the highest quality materials.  This ensures your tap lasts for years to come, so once you have completed your luxury utility room, you won’t need to change a thing. Here we pick five of our favourite schemes, which we hope will inspire you.

MAKE IT A 'BOOTILITY' ROOM

Photography: Paul Craig

This attractive design by Humphrey Munson really earns its keep, as it’s not just a utility but a bootility room. This new trend combines the form and function of a utility and boot room in one, creating a multifunctional space that serves two purposes at the same time. As well as integrated dog beds for two German short haired pointers, the scheme combines HM Sweep Grey painted cabinetry with plenty of storage, laundry appliances and a large sink with our Ionian mixer and rinse in chrome. Perfect for cleaning muddy boots and pre-soaking clothes before washing, it offers all the sink space you need for everyday chores with a handy rinse to get into awkward corners.

PERSONALISE THE SPACE

Photography: Patrick Butler-Madden

This is one of those rooms where you can really add your own personality. In this laundry room by Laura Butler Madden the striking ‘Carnival’ wallpaper by Christopher Farr Cloth really stands out and complements the scheme. When Laura and her husband, Patrick, bought the house this space was a ‘cave with an old stone sink’, but the couple have managed to convert it into a luxurious utility complete with Miele appliances, a Shaws of Darwen fireclay sink and our Polaris 3-in-1 instant hot tap with rinse in aged brass.

GO FOR MULTIPLE TAPS

Photography: deVOL

Full of the joys of spring, this utility room by Megan of @kitandco is so bright and breezy. It combines Sanderson Hedera Green wallpaper with not two but four aged brass deVOL Mayan taps, which we make exclusively fore the company. We love the way the four taps ooze utilitarian style, and how the look is softened by the yellow and green colour scheme. It’s the owner’s favourite room in the house and doubles up as a potting room too.

ELEVATE THE RUSTIC LOOK

Rustic doesn’t have to mean unfinished, especially when you see what Katie of @simplyscandikatie has done with her utility space. Using scaffold boards for worktops, she has skilfully created a luxurious area perfect for cleaning up, doing the laundry and more. Walls and cabinets are painted in Farrow & Ball Green Smoke while our Mayan taps in aged brass complement the brass light fittings and door handles beautifully.

COMPLEMENT THE KITCHEN

Photography: Darren Chung

With plenty of space for laundry and cleaning, this utility room by @beaumonthouse_renovation looks just like a mini kitchen. If you have the room to extend the kitchen into a separate area for the washing machine and tumble dryer, you can create a continuous look with matching cabinetry. Our Ionian mixer in aged brass is the perfect choice for this Farrow & Ball Green Smoke furniture and large fireclay sink with a stunning view over the garden.
